Every Saturday in the summer thousands of people make their way to the PS1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City to enjoy one of the best dance parties the city has to offer. From 3pm to 9pm PS1 is transformed into the biggest rave in the city for what is quite likely the most ethnically, generationally, and socio-economically diverse event on the face of the planet.
Local families, ravers, club kids, and tourists find common ground in music and movement and the result is one of the best you're likely to find. PS1 serves ice cold beer, a few kids sell E, but between the heat and the afternoon time slot it seems most the prevailing vibe is a sober one, but judging from the smiles on everyones lips the music and the afternoon sun are all that's required.
