As legend has it the very first Wigstock came about as the result of an "early morning of the night before" conversation. You know the type. The sun is just rising. The air is crisp and clear. You body is just begining to cast off the toxins with which you had so recently merrily poisoned yourselves. Everything seems clear, life is simple, and ideas come as quickly as vodka tonics at Pyramid. And the idea was this: Lets put on a show and invite our friends!
25 years later the show goes on. The dragstravaganza known as Wigstock has been somewhat neutered by compressing it into an entirely too tidy 2 hours and merging it into the Howl festival, but who knows maybe packing all that gayness into so little time will just make it more intense.
Wigstock runs this Saturday from 5-7pm in Thompkins Sq Park.
