Canstruction®, an annual fund raising event (and rather silly trademark) opens this Thursday at the New York Design Center. Now in its 10th year Canstruction® is aimed at raising the food stocks of local food banks, shelters and soup kitchens through a fierce can based artistic competition. Each year the entries get bigger and more impressive and this year looks to be no exception.

 

A selection of notable entries in the Canstruction® entries: The Hot Dog (with mustard), the tuna fish (precanned), leaning tower of cans, giant toilet, crayon box, champagne bottle (on ice), snoopy (napping), globe, sea shell, fire hydrant, brooklyn bridge, shark, hockey match, rubix cube

 

The competion is held on the 7th, and 9th is the opening night gala, which is unfortunately invitation only. But from the 10th-21st of November the results of the competion will be on show at the New York Design Center.
