The annual parade down 5th Ave to honor the patron Saint of Ireland will kick off at 44th St. at 11am and usually finishes by about 3pm at 86th Street. The parade is unusual in that it is entirely a parade of people - no cars, floats, or balloons, but the vast throngs of humanity on display (150,000+ marched last year) makes for a truly impressive event. The crowds between 44th and 59th are almost impenetrable, so if you want to catch a decent view your best bet is to head farther North. The subway(6 train at 77th) is your best bet for getting there - driving or taking the bus is of course entirely out of the question.
