Situated near the corner of 10th St and 1st Ave. Momofuku Noodle Bar has quickly become an E. Village favorite with its pork lover's update to traditional Ramen. The restaurant is small and sparse, the seating is arm to arm with your neighbor, but the food not the setting is the draw here. The menu is short, simple and well executed, consisting primarily of large bowls of ramen, fresh green market vegetables, and the legendary Momofuku steamed buns.
Overview
Why You Should Go
- The steamed pork buns, aren't just good, they're otherworldy.
- Communal seating and young attractive neighborhood crowd make for an unlikely pick up spot.
- Mmmm....bacon and lots of it.
What You Should Know
- Afficianados will note that the the ramen here, while perhaps more suitable to the American pallete, lacks Koshi (chewy flavor).
- The Nigori sake for $5 is a cloudy slightly sweet and an utterly delicious bargain.
