One of the great East Village jazz bars closed after 11 years and reopened under new management. This tiny bar is now one of the most boring and nondescript bars in NYC.

Solid Irish pub. Never too crowded, rarely empty - a good place for conversing with friends over an excellent pint of Guinness.

With over 150 beers, 130 scotches, and 60 tequilas you might be surprised to discover that the hardest part of placing an order isn't choosing the right drink, but finding a bartender who isn't too busy ignoring you to take your order.

So successful in Long Island they opened one in the E. Village. Luckily, the otherwordly sweet potato fries alone provide a solid raison d'être.

The low key basement lounge feels more like the kind of Morrocan café you might actually stumble into in the South of France rather than the NYC idealized creation of one. There's only bottled beer, the food is just passable, and the average age of the clientel is what you'd expect in a country with no drinking age.

Kind of like a strip club without the stripping, except occasionally single women and couples will wander into a strip club for a thrill.

The acts may be hit or miss but they rotate through quick, and it's one of the few joints giving local talent a shot. Add $4 drafts into the mix and you've got a hit.

Dim lighting, exposed brick, and booths for a few friends make for a welcoming neighborhood hangout.

A strange, but successful mix of men's club and Alphabet City dive. There's the dark wood, chandeliers, and the dates wrapped in bacon. And then there's the board games, $2 Yuengling happy hour(5-8pm), and trivia nights. Who says you can't mix classy with cheap and low key?
