A random sample of scenesters at this subterranean lounge, would reveal a mixed bag of Long Island refugees, art school drop outs, and goth high school students who can only pass with their siblings ID if they're in full makeup. |

This dark and quiet Irish bar remains oddly unmolested by the drinking crowds of 1st Avenue and therein lies its charm. |

Claim a window seat at this relaxed neighborhood bar and grab your friends for a drink as they walk home after work from the F train. On Thursdays and Saturdays the scene is turned upside down and the place becomes an improbably meatmarket as the hip-hop DJs take over. |

A young and heavy drinking crowd of loyal regulars show up for free nightly live music in one room and a vibrant bar scene in the other. And if the bands in between sets there's always table top Pac Man and a working old style photo booth. |

Communal seating at picnic tables and a swinging garage door inspire an indoor a beer garden vibe at this Polish bar. Better yet the selection of Eastern European lagers on hand will give the Bohemian Beer Garden in Queens a run for its money. |

If you're in just the right mood the raw bar and 2 for 1 happy hour at this restaurant can be a nice way to start off your evening. |

A solid bar ruined by new ownership that fired the previous bar staff en mass and redecorated the place in Upper East Side chic. Beer pong anyone? |

Occupies a strange physical reality where its possible to pack more people than there are square feet in this tiny lounge and magically they're able find room to dance. |

There aren't many sports bars in the East Village, and there aren't any other Buffalo Sabres or Cubs bars, so if that's what you're looking for you're in no position to complain. |

This dimly lit bar is one of the very few venues in the city with a smoking exemption. It's sexy, reasonably priced, and so much fun you can't help but feel sorry for all those people standing in line outside of Le Souk a few blocks away. |
