There are dives and then there are dives where you can smell the history soaked into the stains on the floor. This blue collar bar is one of the latter. Since 1969 Timboo's has been serving beer to neighborhood residents, although it's not exactly the type of place you'd want to hang out soaking in the history.

The gold standard of neighborhood bars. As far as you can get from any convenient transportation and as old as any Brooklyn bar. Sunny's is Red Hook. Opened in 1890 and still kept in the original family. If you live here this is where you want to end your night, just remember it's only open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The free pizza dive Capone's is now the epicenter of the Williamsburg gay scene. Waiters in dress shirts, ties, and undies serve cheap and stiff cocktails to a crowd that's looking for a bigger party than Metropolitan has on offer.

The defacto neighborhood bar on Columbus Avenue serves a decent coffee and offers free WiFi during the day, and once the sun falls it becomes a fullbar drawing an eclectic crowd that varies wildly depending on the night. Wednesdays is trivia night, Mondays there's live music, and Saturdays ladies drinks are half off.
