Wood floors, brick walls, pressed tin ceilings and candlit tables create a warm and relaxing ambience for light tapas and a reasonable priced wine selection. |

GoldBar does oppulence rather well. Gold ceilings, gold chandeliers, gold tables, gold curtains, gold walls covered in tiny gold skulls all add up to a significant wow factor. Unfortunatly they also add up to an environment about as comfortable and welcoming as a bank vault. A standard cocktail will run $14, and the door policy can be brutal. |

This huge bar is the flagship of the Amsterdam Avenue college scene. To call it frattish isn't quite accurate, better perhaps to call Columbia and Fordham frat parties Gin Millish. |

A sports bar plain and simple. If there's a good game on the wall to wall projection screens there are few better places in the neighborhood to watch it. But failing that there's little to recommend. |

The patio here is one of the best people watching spots in the city. Go with a friend on a Sunday from 4-11pm and get two seriously tasty burgers for $5. |

Spending some time pregaming at the Emerald Pub before you hit the nearby clubs may convince you to abandon your plans and make a whole night of it here. |

A black leather and white marble martini bar and restaurant. On summer evenings the back garden is the real draw. |

More than a landmark it's just a great place for a drink. On summer afternoons the crowd spill out onto the sidewalk and the setting sun and cobblestone streets can't help but make you fall in love with New York all over again. |
