Opened in the 30's and recently renovated this Harlem institution has hosted all of the cities greats from Davis to Coltrane. The ribs are to die for and the jazz is still some of the best in the city. Attracts a mix of students, tourists, and neighborhood locals. |

Opened in 1975 Ruby's is one of only two remaining pubs on the boardwalk. Sitting on the patio overlooking the boardwalk with a $6 plastic cup of domestic draft remains a singular pleasure. |

Like a real Australian sheep station, this pub on a remote section of 4th avenue with nothing to keep it company but gas stations and auto body shops, provides warm and welcoming respite. There's a fireplace, a full aussie menu, and a friendly welcoming staff. |

It's well neigh impossible to find a good bar or restaurant near Penn Station, well, it would be at least if it weren't for Tír Na Nóg which is happily both. |

It's not hard to imagine that you're in New England at this low key, rustic bar and restaurant. It might be easier than getting your head around the fact you're eating a $20 kobe burger on Avenue B. |
