A low-key dive. Boasts really cheap beer, a great juke country box, and a fiercely competive pool table.

At Jeremey's there are 21 beers on tap, but from 8am to 10am Coors is the only one anyone's drinking. The morning special, a 32oz styrofoam cup of Coors brings in a crowd of fishmongers and a few stockbrokers looking to kick start the day. If you opt to avoid the morning crowds and have dinner the kitchen serves some unsurprisingly exceptional seafood.

The late great International Bar has risen from the ashes. Christmas tree lights, tin ceilings, cheap drinks, and the juke box to end all juke boxes. It was the last great E. Village bar and it's back to reclaim its throne.

Spending some time pregaming at the Emerald Pub before you hit the nearby clubs may convince you to abandon your plans and make a whole night of it here.

A prototypical East Village bar where the motley crowd starts to gather at noon on weekdays. On a recent Wednesday afternoon we shared the bar with hells angels, hipsters, and a host of friendly neighborhood regulars.

More than a landmark it's just a great place for a drink. On summer afternoons the crowd spill out onto the sidewalk and the setting sun and cobblestone streets can't help but make you fall in love with New York all over again.

The crowd looks straight from Billyburg -no surprise considering the easy access from the L train.

The bartenders' Ipods work as DJ and tend to do a pretty fantastic job. A good bar for regulars and those who come with friends to take over the garden or the back room.
