The owner Barry McCormack, a one time star Irish footballer, ensures that no big soccer games are missed at this rock solid Irish bar. A decent kitchen attracts a relaxed neighborhood crowd that's missing from most other 3rd avenue offerings.

With an outstanding beer selection (including cask conditioned ale), great Costa Rican bar food, a back garden, 4 TVs, a pool table and a dart board there's not many angles the Lighthouse Tavern doesn't have covered.

There aren't many sports bars in the East Village, and there aren't any other Buffalo Sabres or Cubs bars, so if that's what you're looking for you're in no position to complain.

Loud and raucous, the student crowd here's the same as the other big frat bars on this block, but at least Jake's has a backroom that's free of TVs, so you can try and score digits without the sickly plasma palor.

An anachronism in the newly self-conciously hip LES, Iggy's is a bar where people go to get trashed and have fun.

The former Caffe Dell'Artiste still serves coffee in the AM and retains much of the old furnishings, but there's now a few video games in the back, 6 beers on tap, and a full bar. The real draw though is the view onto Greenwich Avenue from the second floor windows. Come Halloween those seats will be worth their weight in gold.

Huge Irish pub caters to college kids and beer connoisseurs. One of the few bars in NYC with a beer engine to serve cask conditioned ale.

A sports bar plain and simple. If there's a good game on the wall to wall projection screens there are few better places in the neighborhood to watch it. But failing that there's little to recommend.
