A prototypical East Village bar where the motley crowd starts to gather at noon on weekdays. On a recent Wednesday afternoon we shared the bar with hells angels, hipsters, and a host of friendly neighborhood regulars.

Since the 1920's this Irish saloon has been serving perfect pints of Guinness to an after work crowd. On weekend nights this bar like the rest of those in the area succumbs to a heavy drinking frattish crowd.

The small size and vague literary pretensions of this pub help keep the neighborhood's frattish hordes at bay offering a welcome respite for a somewhat brighter student crowd.

So successful in Long Island they opened one in the E. Village. Luckily, the otherwordly sweet potato fries alone provide a solid raison d'être.

Kind of like a strip club without the stripping, except occasionally single women and couples will wander into a strip club for a thrill.

This sports pub is representative of the new Park Slope - a sort of Brooklyn Heights meets the Upper East Side. The jukebox is capable of blasting GN'R with an earnest exuberance rarely seen since the late Reagan era.

Attractive upscale LES sports bar with 62 plasma TVs and private room. Sounds great? Wait til you get the bill. There's a minimum bill of $50/pp per hour for the cheap seats, and $150/pp per hour for a private room. Leaves you to wonder where exactly those blue seats are…
