Sure, the faux Roman columns at this popular after work spot help lend it a certain classical feel, but it's when you try and vie for the attentions of the bartender at the fifty foot long bar that you really feel like you're at the Roman forum. |

Sasha Petraske conceived NYC's cocktail craze, and now he's aborting it. The only thing that you'll be able to persuade him to mix into your drink at his latest bar is ice, and even that's viewed with suspicion. At least you'll get your drink fast. |

Head into the Hotel and to the Mercer Kitchen, walk past the host stand, and head for the back stairs. If you're lucky you'll make it down to a tiny AAA list basement haunt. If you're not, no amount of money, pleading, or models on your arm will get you in. |

Gazing up at the 20,00 bottle tower of wine in the center of Le Cirque's new wine bar you might find yourself reminded of the Tower of Babel which is oddly appropriate given the linquistic gallimaufry that the weak dollar has created at what is one of Manhattan's priciest restaurants. |

From celebrity rolodex, to Page Six, to Citysearch's 10 best list, to the gutter. With a roaring fireplace and vaulted ceilings the Rose Bar feels chic and sophisticatated, unfortunately its overblown publicity has ensured very few of its patrons are. |
