In Williamsburg where what passes for Bohemia tends to be deintellectualized, unsubstantive and culturally barren, a night spent in Zebulon can be almost disorienting. Patrons emerge at the end of the night as if from a darkened theatre where they've been transported by some strange fiction to a world bereft of pop culture references or tedious irony. |

Although anyone who's lived in Williamsburg more than a year will claim the scene is far past its sell by date, Union Pool remains an attractive and popular space. On a weeknight in the fall a spot by the firepit in the back garden is nothing short of a treasure. |

The working class roots that the area's many art school dropouts are at such pains to emulate are evident in spades at this Williamsburg dive, but there's no need to worry that the hipsters will take over. This bar has top notch hipster repellent - heavy metal. This leaves the associated regulars to profess their love for the free tater tots without worrying about the quality of their ironic lilt. |

A rusted bicycle hanging from a wall serves as the only sign for this hidden bar and café. There are few (perhaps no) more attractive and unique interior spaces in the burrough - an idealized Parisian Café crammed into the narrow corner of a warehouse. |
