Since the unveiling of the Sensor in 1990 Gillette has completely dominated the the lucrative wet shaving market. Recently Schick has tried to carve out a piece of that market with the new Quattro four bladed razor. Not one to take it on the chin, Gillette has come back swinging with the unveiling of the new Mach 3 Power. The worlds first vibrating razor. Really. We kid you not. Why would you want your razor handle to vibrate you might ask. Well, the supposed purpose is that vibrating the hairs on your face makes them stand at attention, but we at NYonTap suspect an alterior marketing plan. Some quick Google market research shows that a number of women have been using their Gillette Venus razors for more than just shaving. (example 1, example 2 (Jules) , example 3). Naturally Gillette would like to capitalize on this, but releasing a vibrating razor for women is, well, just too obvoius. Hence the M3 Power strong enough for a man, but made for a woman. Because God knows no self respecting guy is going to drop $15!!! for a friggin vibrating razor.
