Bull McCabe's

This is the first bar I ever went to in Manhattan. It holds a special place in my heart. I think I'll name my first liver tumor after it.

The Continental

There aren't many places in Manhattan left that give new rock acts a shot. And besides the drinks are dead cheap.
The new side room is lovely in the summer.

The lounge at the top floor of this bar makes for a great place to take over with a group of friends.

An Institution

Veniero's is THE New York pasticceria. It gets nuts, absolutely nuts in prime hours, and personally I can't stand the accoustics and flourescent lights, but there's a good reason this place has been around as long as it has. The service is snappy, the selection is almost overwhelming, and the quality top notch.

Dim

Definitely a scene. Sadly the scene is disaffected, self-superior high school drop out turned artist. Shame that, because the bar itself actually pretty cool, and the music doesn't suck.

The best hands down

The Bowery rocks. There's no place better to see a concert. Period.

Always some kind of time

People don't go to McSorley's for a casual drink. They go to have a time. They go to drink too much, or to meet people, or to see something of NYC from out of town. I guess what I'm saying is you don't go to McSorley's casually. You go with a sense of purpose.
